Dinner@Moshan Island Grill, Old Town

The Moshan Island Grill is a family run restaurant that brings a taste of the Caribbean to Old Town in Swindon.  My very good friend Gino, who spends most of his spare time on his bike, has dismounted briefly to join me for dinner.

Gino leads out with the Jerk Pork Belly served with honey while I am following in his slipstream with a peleton of Grilled Jerk Chicken pieces served on skewers with onions and peppers.  Both dishes go down well.

As we start the zigzag climb towards the main course we need to drink. Gino decides to aim for the summit of adventure with a bottle of Cubanisto – a rum flavoured beer and an acquired taste.  I am more traditional – a tall, cool glass of Redstripe helps me to shift up a gear.

Now we are in tandem as we both choose the Caribbean Fish Curry – white fish, king prawns and papaya cooked in a coconut curry sauce.  We add dumplings and Callaloo Rice to help sustain our carb levels.

Moshan Island Grill has given us a Caribbean high – but now we can happily coast on the downhill ride home.
