Made By Bob is one of our favourite places, relaxed and informal. It has an open kitchen where you can have almost as much fun watching the bustle of the dishes being assembled as you can eating them once they arrive.
I choose the Fish Soup – I’ve had it here before and it’s usually very good. It should be a safe bet – but today it is just too salty. I obtain planning consent to use a bottle of Bobby’s Beer to quench the building thirst created by the soup.
Rock is more adventurous and goes for the Braised Oxtail Ravioli constructed over a Caramelized Onion Puree, Spinach and Salsa Verde. A dome of light and delicate pasta, filled with flavour and all the foundation materials on the plate work well together. She is loving it.
For dessert we share the Lemon and Ricotta Cheesecake with Blueberry Compote. The Lemon and Ricotta have good flavours but, a bit like a wall without a damp-proof course, the base is too soggy.
Rock is happy but overall, as a place we know and love, I am disappointed!
