Lunch@Cobbs Farm & Kitchen, Hungerford

Cobb’s Farm & Kitchen is a place where you can buy fabulous fresh produce and other high quality cooking ingredients. While the kitchen may not be staffed by people with Michelin star skills – they generally use those ingredients well.

Rock and I are here for a simple lunch followed by some food shopping. It all starts very well when I order what is described as a ‘lunchtime bitter’. Mr Chubbs is one of a fine range of beers made from original recipes by the West Berkshire Brewery. It is a beautiful balance of malt, fruity hops and floral notes.

You will not find very many references to burgers on WadeandRock. However, today we are both having one. Rock picks the Field Burger – field mushrooms, grilled halloumi, hummus and dressed salad leaves served on a toasted sourdough bap. She is almost as pleased with her Field Burger as I am with my beer.

I choose the Chargrilled Chilli and Lime Chicken Burger – a piece of chicken breast marinated in spices, chilli and lime with an avocado mayonaisse and home-made coleslaw. The sourdough baps are fabulous and both dishes contain some great flavours – though my chicken is a little overcooked.

Time to shop – now where do I find those West Berkshire Brewery beers?

Wade and Rock are a UK based couple who love good food and wildlife and love travelling to find it. Wade does most, but not all, of the writing and the photography. Rock shares the eating experience and tells Wade when planned posts fall short on sense or style or taste. In the opinion of Wade (and many of our friends) she is also a fabulous baker. WadeandRockandFood mainly consists of reviews of restaurants and pubs we have recently visited. WadeandRockandWildlife and WadeandRockandPlaces are mostly photoblogs.
