Breakfast@Bettys, Ilkley

Bettys in Harrogate has been a Yorkshire institution for nearly a century and a place that we have enjoyed on many occasions. Today we are having breakfast at the relative newcomer – Bettys in Ilkley.

We both order a cafetiére of World’s Best coffee – a blend of Kenyan and South American beans – it is really good. I order the Swiss breakfast rosti – made with grated potato, Gruyére cheese and cream. It is served with dry-cured Yorkshire bacon, a grilled plum tomato, mushrooms and a poached egg. Fabulous! Rock chooses the dry-cured Yorkshire bacon toasted muffin. We are both very happy…

The Ilkley branch has much of what made the original Bettys great. Fantastic food, beautiful coffee in stylish, traditional surroundings and excellent service.  This is a wonderful start to our day!

Wade and Rock are a UK based couple who love good food and wildlife and love travelling to find it. Wade does most, but not all, of the writing and the photography. Rock shares the eating experience and tells Wade when planned posts fall short on sense or style or taste. In the opinion of Wade (and many of our friends) she is also a fabulous baker. WadeandRockandFood mainly consists of reviews of restaurants and pubs we have recently visited. WadeandRockandWildlife and WadeandRockandPlaces are mostly photoblogs.

  1. Had a lovely afternoon tea here in April when I was last over in the UK. It was just as nice as the Harrogate one in my opinion (have also been to the Harlow Carr one in Harrogate as well as the original Bettys in the town centre). Breakfast sounds delicious! 🙂
