Lunch@Toast House, Ilkley

Sometimes you can just stumble across a great place…we are in Toast House in Ilkley. We were looking for somewhere for a light lunch and this place is both very relaxed and very friendly.

The menu is interesting too. The emphasis appears to be on fresh, often local ingredients. As you might expect from the name, there are many dishes involving different types of toasted bread, plus there are home-made cakes and great coffee. My latte macchiato is sublime.

Rock decides to have brunch…..home-made granola served with yoghurt, honey and a rich, vibrant cherry compote. She is really enjoying it. I am unable to resist trying the toast – I have toasted sourdough with vintage cheddar, apple chutney and rocket. The chutney works fantastically well with the cheese and, of course, the toast is great!

I just have enough room for cake but, easily distracted, I see the interesting Northern Bloc ice cream flavours and ask for a recommendation…..“Try the black treacle”. I do, like everything else here, it is beautiful.
