After a great morning exploring Malmö in the Swedish sunshine, we are heading a little away from the town centre – towards the coast. Salt & Brygga serves traditional Swedish food using organic produce. It even has eco-friendly wall paint, table linen and staff clothing. On a beautiful day like today, it’s location could not be better – overlooking Malmö’s small harbour and the Øresund bridge.
On a day like today we would both like a chilled beer. Interestingly, there are no Swedish or Danish beers on the drinks menu – so Rock goes Mexican with a Sol and I go for a Bakalář from the Czech Republic.
From the short lunch menu I pick a classic Scandinavian dish – gravadlax with dill creamed potatoes and mustard dressing. I am in the right place…it is the best gravadlax I have ever tasted and, just like our recent experience at Peder Oxe, the new potatoes taste so much better than I’m used to at home. Rock is having the Caesar salad with grilled chicken & bacon. It may be a dish with roots in Italy & the USA rather than Sweden but, the fresh crisp salad and the great flavours of bacon & parmesan are perfect in the bright sunshine.
This has been a really good experience. Sitting outside with a view of the sea and ‘The Bridge’, sun shining, chilled lager and dishes that were perfect for this moment in time.
