It is our last day in Copenhagen and, following advice from Karoline of Kødbyens Fiskebar , we are visiting the Torvehallerne. Torvehallerne is a foodmarket with stands selling everything from fresh meat and fish to exotic spices and fancy patisserie. It also has dozens of places to buy lunch.
As we wander round we are amazed at the variety and quality of the stalls. It all looks very appetising and we are getting hungrier with every moment that passes. Rock eventually decides to go back to get a mixed salad from one of the salad bars – leaving room for a danish pastry to follow. But, my attention has been grabbed by something else…
Stedsans Farm to Table Cuisine is an offshoot of an organic, sustainable eco-restaurant in Østerbro. They have a notice up advertising their 4 stage seasonal board which really appeals to me. While waiting for my lunch to be freshly cooked, I wander off to one of the craft ale stalls to get a lunchtime beer.
Back at Stedsans – my lunch is ready. First item on the board is carrot with smoked cream cheese. Then new potatoes with mature cheese. Next a beautiful piece of beef brisket with a herb butter. Finally strawberries with honeyed whipped cream, cocoa nibs and chocolate. Wow!
Great advice Karoline!
